Mom’s caramel recipe….it’s the best!

CARAMELS

Mix in large pan:

1/2 lb. butter

1 bottle Blue Label Karo (dark kind)

2 cups sugar

Cook until it forms a hard ball in water – Stirring constantly or it will scorch

Take from heat and add:

1 can sweetened condensed milk

Cook again, stirring constantly, until it forms a medium hard ball.

Remove from heat and add nuts, if desired, and 2 tsps. of vanilla.

Pour into 9 x 13 buttered dish. Let set or put in frig. Slice into squares and wrap in wax paper. Store in container to keep fresh.
